Welcome to The Blue House of Hardin County

This charming house overlooks the beautiful Ohio River in historic Elizabethtown, Illinois, and dates back to the late 19th century.  We provide you with all the comforts of home as you enjoy yourself in scenic southeast Illinois.  In addition to the picturesque town itself, there are many activities to enjoy.  Explore the Shawnee National Forest, the jewel of which is beautiful Garden of the Gods, and only a short drive on Karbers Ridge Road.  Also on the road is scenic Pounds Hollow Lake and recreation area, and the Rim Rock trail for hiking and a chance to see remnants of native defense walls.  Cave-In-Rock offers great views from the bluffs and the opportunity to explore the cave.  Cross the ferry and visit the Amish country in Kentucky.  The area provides opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, horseback riding, hunting and fishing.  A variety of craft and gift shops await your discovery, so be sure to stop and check out the unique goods offered for your appreciation.  For you bicycle riders, don't miss the Tunnel Hill Trail experience with its eight hundred foot long tunnel.  If you're looking for a little night life, the casino at Metropolis is only about an hour away.  All this and more await you in wonderful Southeastern Illinois.
